CCHSA (Cenla Christian Home School Association) has been a member group of CHEF of Louisiana (Christian Home Educators Fellowship of Louisiana), which is the state home school organization, since the 1996-1997 school year. This organization is not connected with the state government. CHEF of LA attempts to connect and assist all of the different Christian home school groups in the state of Louisiana. Local group benefits derived from CHEF of Lousiana membership include discounts in both the annual Louisiana homeschool convention fees and HSLDA (Home School Legal Defense Association) annual membership, training of local leaders to benefit area groups, and regular email alerts regarding ongoing activities or concerns.
With efforts by a CHEF Legislative Liaison, CHEF of LA keeps up with current legislative activity that might affect home school families. CHEF of LA leadership and District Representatives have contact with each local group to distribute this information, largely through regular email updates to all statewide members.
CHEF of LA group membership requires that the officers and members of the local group desiring CHEF of LA membership sign a statement of faith which also includes a statement of belief on family and on education. (The persons who desire membership should also be in confessional and ethical compliance with these statements. If they are found to be in non-compliance, membership will be revoked.)
CHEF of LA accepts only group memberships; they do not accept memberships from individual families. That is why your dues are collected and sent in by our local group. CHEF of LA requires annual dues of $10.00 per member family. This is paid through the local member group of CHEF of LA (in this case, CCHSA, as part of the $30.00 annually renewable CCHSA dues.
